What knowledge do we as a society choose to celebrate, erase, and even criminalize?

This set of postcards were designed as creative documentation of a residency at the Harvard Art Lab with Liz Lerman on developing an ongoing project titled ‘My Body is a Library’. The design process for the set of 9 postcards entailed collecting reflections, images, and stories from the creatives involved in the residency on the topic of embodied language, lineages, legacy, and cataloging. The postcards also served as archives of the diagrams and theoretical work found through conversation.

My Body is a Library™ centers libraries as place of refuge and research, even as their values are attacked (book censorship, freedom to read, etc). Dance is an ideal form for investigating at a personal and collective level the arduous and exhilarating journey of comprehending how knowledge is on the move. The work is a multi-disciplinary project that animates spaces within libraries through site-specific participatory performances, immersive installations, and embodied research processes.

The postcards were presented along the public showcase at the end of the week-long residency to Harvard audiences, asking attendees what knowledge they would like to remember through the question: “If my body was a library, then _”.‍
