This is an artist book created alongside the Sacred Threads Performance which premiered April 17th at the Cambridge Foundry. The book contains reflections, histories, and quotes about the upanayana ritual and its ties to patriarchy and caste oppression. The dimensions of the book are 3” x 11” and are inspired by palmleaf manuscripts - how knowledge was documented in the subcontinent prior to the invention of the printing press.
Book pages are 100 lb natural cardstock printed at Flashprint located in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA. Covers are lasercut 1/8” plywood, produced by Nate Guevin.
